Serie Ares : histoire militaire = Militärgeschichte
The Serie Ares, piloted by the Schweizerische Vereinigung für Militärgeschichte und Militärwissenschaften, is designed to bring together research on Swiss military history in the form of monographs, biographies, dissertations and conference proceedings. The first volume of the series was published in 2013.
The Schweizerische Vereinigung für Militärgeschichte und Militärwissenschaften was founded in 1972, shortly after the International Congress of Historical Sciences held in Moscow, where it became apparent that Switzerland was one of the few countries in Western Europe not to group military historians together in a special section. The SVMM also acts as the Swiss Commission for Military History.
