Comtec : Informations- und Telekommunikationstechnologie = information and telecommunication technology
The first issue, entitled Technische Beilage zur Schweizerischen Post-, Zoll- und Telegraphen-Zeitung, is published in 1917. The journal reports on technical innovations in the field of telegraphy and telephony; the target audience are civil servants and interested parties.
In 1923 the journal is renamed Technische Mitteilungen der Schweizerischen Telegraphen und Telefonverwaltung. The publisher is now the Telegraph and Telephone Administration or, from 1928, the Swiss Post, Telephone and Telegraph Companies. The content ranges from conference reports to detailed technical descriptions of innovations in the field of telecommunication.
The journal is renamed ComTec in 1995. From now on, the focus of the content is on digital telecommunication. The contents are designed to be reader-friendly for a broad audience. As of 1997, Swisscom is the publisher of ComTec and replaces PTT Telecom. From then on, the magazine is more customer- and market-oriented. The magazine ceases publication in 2005.
